CBD is short for cannabidiol, a naturally-occurring chemical compound found in cannabis plants. CBD is one of the many cannabinoids. CBD is extracted and separated from specific varieties of cannabis, known as hemp.

Cannabinoids are a group of naturally occurring compounds found in the cannabis plant. These are called phyto-cannabinoids. Research has found that the cannabis plant can contain more than a hundred different cannabinoids. Our body itself also produces two cannabinoids, these cannabinoids we call endo-cannabinoids. Our bodies are equipped with a system known as the endocannabinoid system, a crucial molecular system that consists of cannabinoid receptors that help maintain homeostasis. The receptors can interact with both endo- and phytocannabinoids.

CBD is also known for its anti-inflammatory properties, which can be beneficial for many skin concerns such as redness or acne.

CBD is known for being a true powerhouse botanical for a variety of needs. CBD is extracted from cannabis plants as either an oil or crystals. These can be mixed into creams or gels. When applied in the form of a serum or lotion, CBD can help with skin-related inflammation, like eczema, redness and even acne. Cannabidiol offers some serious antioxidant powers, it is more potent than vitamin C and vitamin E.

Let’s start with CBD Isolate. CBD Isolate is the purest form of CBD. It’s isolated from the cannabis plant and extracted with no other compounds or cannabinoids. There is just one molecule in this extract, the CBD molecule. Sounds nice right? Well we think differently, because it’s not just the CBD-molecule that works magic. Actually the magic really happens in what we call ‘the entourage effect’; the concept that different cannabinoids and terpenes bring out the best in each other. The extract from the cannabis plant which exists of that variety of cannabinoids and terpenes is known as Broad Spectrum or Full Spectrum CBD. Broad spectrum CBD has it all, except for THC. THC is filtered out. And as there are no THC receptors in the skin, we believe Broad Spectrum CBD is the best extract for skincare.
